How Does Inspiration Ministries Use Their L.E.O. Funds?

ABOUT INSPIRATION MINISTRIES:

Inspiration Ministries (IM) is a vibrant community of adults with disabilities engaged in living, working, leisure and faith activities designed to provide a "complete living experience."  From its inception more than 60 years ago, IM has focused on meeting the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of adults with disabilities.  IM's desire is to help each individual reach their full potential in Christ.

The sprawling IM campus consists of a modern residential facility offering three different styles of living accommodations (assisted living apartments, community living rooms, and independent apartments); a sheltered work center and a resale shop for residents able and desiring to work; and a modern retreat center / camp with an adjacent nature center and wheelchair accessible nature trails for use by both residents and visiting adults with disabilities.  IM is also blessed to have a pool, library and dental office for their residents.

The Geneva National Foundation has raised $106,070 for IM since 2008.  Funds from the GNF have been used to:

-IM is the newest organization to receive funds from the L.E.O. with 2009 being their first year of participation. In addition to L.E.O. funds, IM received $2,400 in a special grant from the Foundation for Christmas gifts for their residents in 2008.

-In 2009, IM used their L.E.O. funds to broaden its service to disabled individuals throughout the county by starting a respite care program to serve families on both planned and emergency bases. They also began networking and planning for how IM can serve the dental and mental health care needs of adults with disabilities in Walworth County. ($30,000)

-In 2010, IM used their L.E.O. funds to help put a new roof on the Pederson Center - a building that houses their main offices as well as residents. ($43,000)

IM's Plans for the 2011 L.E.O. Funds:

IM will be using the funds received from the 2011 L.E.O. to meet the needs of residents who cannot afford the cost of their care at IM.  Without these funds, some residents would be confined to nursing homes or less suitable situations; some of them would even be homeless. IM provides age-appropriate activities and individualized care for 82 residents, enabling each person to achieve to the best of their abilities. ($30,670)
