Therapy with a Kick

Therapy for children with autism can take non-traditional forms, including, at times, a few leg sweeps, knee kicks and blocks.

“Christopher’s developmental pediatrician recommended karate, and he was spot on,” says Pamela Knaack, whose 11-year-old son Christopher has received two grants from the Geneva National Foundation for his classes at Elkhorn Flying Dragons.

“Karate definitely has sharpened his focus and body awareness,” adds Pamela, who notes another unanticipated benefit: better grades in school.

“The Geneva National Foundation has been a wonderful resource for us as well as for others in the community,” she notes, “and we are grateful for the help you have sent Christopher’s way.”
